Columbus, St. Louis Awarded CEC’s 2024 Safety Excellence Awards

March 12, 2025

Our Columbus and St. Louis operations garnered top honors in our annual Safety Excellence Awards. Twenty-four of our offices/profit centers were eligible for the award.

The Safety Excellence Awards were first awarded in 2017 to recognize CEC offices for their proactive efforts in improving corporate safety culture and safety performance by completing required safety training, project planning, and safe performance of projects.

This year, the award for Large Offices went to CEC Columbus, and the award for Small Offices was presented to CEC St. Louis. Our St. Louis operations are now back-to-back winners, also winning the small office award for 2023. This is the third Safety Excellence Award for St. Louis (2023-2024, 2020) and Columbus (2024, 2017-2018). In 2024, we expanded our scoring criteria to 12 elements, including people, environment, equipment/materials, and more. Our 2024 Scoring Criteria Panelists were eight CEC team members in leadership positions across our footprint. This year more than half of the eligible offices had safety scores of 85 or above, and six offices improved their scores compared to 2023.

Congratulations to the teams in Columbus and St. Louis on a job safely done! Read more about our safety culture here.
