Tim Mitchell, P.E., a Principal in Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc.’s Monroeville office, was named the Landfill Management Technical Division’s Distinguished Individual Achievement Award (DIAA) winner by the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA).
Tim’s award was presented during a ceremony on April 16, 2024, at SWANA’s annual Sustainability, Operations, Actions, and Resources (SOAR) conference, held in Phoenix, Arizona.
The DIAA recognizes efforts on behalf of an individual SWANA member for service to the Technical Division, support of the mission of SWANA to advance the practice of MSW management, and overall long-term service to the solid waste management industry.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by my waste management peers,” adds Tim, who has been with CEC for 18 years and currently serves as Monroeville’s Waste Management Practice Lead. The DIAA is merit based and has not been awarded since 2020. Tim joins only 13 past winners, including CEC Charlotte’s Ivan Cooper, P.E.
“The Technical Division Awards spotlight exemplary programs, facilities, and individuals dedicated to advancing sustainable waste management practices. We are excited to congratulate this year’s award winners that represent a diverse range of organizations and individuals whose remarkable contributions have significantly impacted the industry,” says SWANA Executive Director & CEO Amy Lestition Burke.
“This recognition is a testament to our members’ commitment to excellence and innovation in the waste management industry. Your dedication exemplifies SWANA’s goal of driving progress in our industry. Your achievements inspire us, and we are proud to honor your contributions. Congratulation on this well-deserved honor,” says SWANA President Art Mercer.
